Our Adrenaline Club recently took themselves to the Galtee Mountains on the 4th of December 2013. Leaving the school at 9.30am they arrived on the north side at the Galtee Mountains, ready to walk at 10.45. They made their way to L. Curra and contined up the headwall of the cirge through a narrow gully. Although the day started out with glorious sunshine, the weather changed on the final ascent to Galtee Mór. Low cloud descended reducing the visibility to less than 100 yards.
Sticking close together, we arrived at the summit at about 1.30. A brief clearence in the cloud allowd for a quick bite of lunch before heading back down. Once again, the weather closed in and the wind whipped up to a freezing 40 miles per hour. Carefully we descended and made our way down Slievecushabinna and back to the bus by about 3.30.
Thanks to Mr. Mc Donnell & Mr. Lucey and in particular to Aaron O Callaghan from 4th Year for organising and guiding the trip.
